If you won $1,000,000 today would you continue working in the same position, profession or industry as you currently do?
The answer to that question I believe tells us whether we are doing something that truly gives us energy, something we believe in and something we would be proud to call ourselves a leader in.
Often the answer for many people is no but the idea of taking the steps to build the career and lifestyle they actually want seems insurmountable. An irrational belief that "it's not meant for me" or "I wouldn't know where to start" kicks in and they return to the comfort zone.
On average there are around 30,000 days in a human life (and that's living to a pretty ripe old age). We simply do not have time to spend the weeks wishing for Friday and begrudging Monday. One day it will be too late to do all the things you wanted to do and there will be no going back.
One area of coaching I am particularly passionate about is Career Coaching. I am 35 years old and have been the leader of my own life for the past 9 years since moving into freelance corporate training facilitation and more recently establishing LLC Global. I realized at the age of just 26 that I wanted adventure and I didn't see why adventure should only be limited to a holiday once a year so I packed my bags and with the attitude that the world was now my potential workplace I went in search of the lifestyle I wanted to live.
I understand both sides to the coin and the bit in the middle. Throughout the years and my journey so far I have learned many valuable lessons and have come to realize that for me to feel in control of my own destiny I need to be the person leading my own life. Leading my own time, welcoming the glory when things go well and accepting the blame when they don't. Being the leader of your life is not a "job", it's firstly a state of mind that everything I do is work. Whether it is in business, in family and relationships, in going to the gym, in reading, learning and personal development, in travelling and broadening my circles and horizons or anything else. It's all work. Working on myself for myself and the people I love. If a person's view is "work is only what makes you money" I would say that without investing in my personal development I have nothing of value to offer others and so can't make money doing something I am passionate about, without taking care of my health I won't need money, without solid family relationships where we spend quality time together what is the point of having money and without dedicating time to broadening my horizons and striving to learn more, be more and share more how can I call myself a leader?
A leadership lifestyle is all work but the right work, on you, for you, to be shared with others, by you.
If you have any of these ambitions, through coaching and mentoring I would love to work with you, on you, for you:
- a desire to set up your own business or independent income stream
- an ambition to move or relocate to another city or country
- to obtain a healthier balance in life where the current primary imbalance seems to be "work"
- take your income and skill set to the next level
- move into management and leadership
- change profession or retrain
- currently unemployed or facing unemployment and want to capitalize on this opportunity
- do something that gives you energy. Every single day.
