What are the main elements involved? Your Values Your Beliefs Your Strategies
How does it work? 1. Establish what is not serving you at both a conscious and unconscious level and needs to change in the current program of your life.
2. Explore and create an empowering program that aligns your values, beliefs and strategies with your desired outcomes and ambitions. A program fit for your purpose. 3. Through Neuro-Linguistic Programming interventions install the updated values, beliefs and strategies locking them into your neurology at a subconscious level. In a nutshell, you are reprogramming your mind to work WITH YOU not against you in creating the life you wish to be living.
Why does it get the results you want in your life?
Have you ever felt like your brain is telling you what you need to do but the rest of you just isn't cooperating and you are stuck? This can show itself in procrastination, in doubting yourself, in a lack of self-belief or confidence, regular feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, being overwhelmed and unable to make decisions, frustration and many many more ways.
This applies to ANY area of your life. Relationship issues, work and career, exercise and health, feeling "lost", anything. It is all connected to your program.
Your program consists of 2 main areas, your conscious mind and your subconscious or unconscious mind. The thing is though, they are not equal. Most people, otherwise unaware, tend to operate out of the basis that the conscious mind is where they make decisions and therefore that is what controls their life and who they are. You may consciously decide you would like to move on from a relationship breakup, start working out to get in shape or invest in a new business idea. Conscious decision made, rationally you know what you need to do, you feel like you know why and even how to do it, yet for some reason you find yourself taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back, stuck in patterns of thinking and behaviour that seem impossible to break out of. Does this sound familiar?
Here's the problem Your conscious mind is only 5% of who you are. 5%. The other 95% of what makes you... you, is made up of your subconscious or unconscious mind. The most powerful parts of you are stored in your 95%. The subconscious mind is 1 MILLION times more powerful than the conscious mind. What you believe to be true about yourself, others, the world in general is all preset in there in your program, negative emotions such as anger, guilt, fear, insecurity for example which may show up in your day to day life are all stored in your 95%, very often the result of past events (often in childhood years) which caused you to feel these emotions and because they were not resolved they have become part of your program. This is also true of your beliefs. A person who says "It's hard for me to be confident" has at some point in the past made a decision to believe that, kept thinking it and kept believing it. There was once (very often in childhood) a limiting decision made resulting in the formation of that limiting belief that has become part of their program. Beliefs are not facts, they are merely opinions we have subscribed to about ourselves and the world in general but here's the thing, usually not consciously, very unconsciously which means people are mostly not even aware of their existence. What you're not aware of how can you change?
Stay with me, we're nowhere near done yet Then there are our values. What we place most importance on in our world. Often these may seem to be very conscious, for example most people when asked would say family, health, financial stability etc. As it turns out though, our values are far more unconscious than you would ever have thought. From 0-7 years old we are young children in the imprinting phase of development. From 7-14 we are in the modelling phase. During these years what we absorb from those around us, parents, teachers, our environment etc gets soaked up into our 95% (including our nervous system) and stored. When it comes to our values, unconsciously we have preset criteria that needs to be met for us to feel like they have been achieved. This is very unconscious and often the rules are so hard we can't meet them which is why although we may say something is very important to us, at the same time we don't feel fulfilled in that area. For example if a person values "financial security" but one of their unconscious rules to fulfilling that value is that they must have no less than $5,000,000 (perhaps they heard this said many times by a parent as a child or that particular figure has some relevance to a significant emotional event they experienced in their past) they may have what most would consider a lot of money (let's just say $2,200,000 for example) but still not feel fulfilled as they have not met that unconscious criteria. Our values and rules to achieving them can be changed, re-ordered and installed into our program so that they do not cause us conflict and frustration in life.
Why is the 95% so important? Imagine there was a goblin inside you who had formed over time in your 95% (subconscious mind) through a combination of the limiting decisions, limiting beliefs and limiting emotional experiences you had gone through and subscribed to. That goblin needs you to keep craving and supplying it with the emotions and circumstances that originally created it. These may be insecurity, lack of self worth, lack of confidence, being powerless to change, anger, resentment, jealousy, guilt and so on, so on. What if the goblin was doing everything it could to ensure you kept experiencing them and was pumping out disempowering thoughts and creating a particular lens for you to look at life through (otherwise known as a cognitive bias) to ensure that you experienced your external world and people in a way that kept you trapped and the goblin fed daily. Would this cause a person to disqualify and delete positives in their life, procrastinate, ignore opportunities, find excuses not to take empowering actions and stay stuck in cycles and patterns of behaviour proven to not lead them to where their 5% program (conscious mind) tells them they want to be? The answer is yes and for more details on that just check out our "Reticular Activating System - RAS" and how it works. The 95% through the goblin and the RAS (or mental filter) literally control what we allow ourselves to focus on and what we even notice at all.
Also embedded and part of our 95% are our strategies to achieving things and making decisions. One person's strategy for falling in love will be very different to the next or one person's strategy for shopping will differ to another. If someone is spending too much money and perhaps getting into debt we can change their strategy to spending money through NLP intervention or if a person is consistently having relationship troubles we can change their strategy for deciding on who to date. These strategies are mostly very unconscious (even though you may not realise it) and connected to our senses and submodalities (which simply explained determine how we experience the world, associations and connections we make to everything we experience subconsciously and where we store them in our neurology). For example my idea of marmite or peanut butter may be totally different to yours and we will have assigned different submodalities to it and stored it in a different part of our mind. Through NLP interventions we can move these associations around (think of our minds like a library only we all store the books in different places to each other as our experiences and how we see the world is of course different). In doing this we can change things we like to dislike them (of course helpful for bad habits), we can change behaviour habits, we can change limiting beliefs, we can change values, we can change emotions and much more all at an unconscious level.
What, How, Why, ? In a nutshell, you can make all the conscious decisions and intentions in the world through your 5% program but if your subconscious (your 95% program) has a goblin, limiting beliefs, disempowering emotions, conflict in values, ineffective and destructive unconscious strategies is it any surprise that the 5% isn't taking you to your goals and desired outcomes?
Once we have established what is in your 95% that needs to go, explored and decided what it needs to be updated with for you to become the person you need to be to achieve the outcomes in life you want, we then install your new programs (values, beliefs, resolve and remove limiting emotions, strategies) through interventions and techniques both consciously and subconsciously. Think of a USB drive full of all the software you need to thrive in your life that you could plug into yourself and upload. That is what I am offering to help you create. Take a moment to look at and consider your current USB drive, what's it telling you? If you had a choice would you keep the one you have or grab the new one designed for you without a second's thought?
